DREAM AWAY Passages Planned
Our present plan is to move DREAM AWAY from Georgetown, South Carolina, to Delcambre (pronounced 'Del-com'), Louisiana. At present, this move is scheduled for April of 2012. Weather will be the ultimate judge in timing this trip, but hopefully, by scheduling in the spring, we should have a good chance of favorable weather.
My plan is to sail the most direct route possible, and hopefully it will be the fastest. The plan is to leave Georgetown,South Carolina, and sail directly to Marathon, Florida, which is in the Florida Keys. We will be sailing close inshore during this leg in order to stay out of the Gulf Stream, which pushes north. Once we arrive in Marathon, we can replenish fuel and groceries; do all of the laundry; and, then continue the voyage.
The second leg of the trip is to be from, Marathon,Florida, to either Delcambre or Morgan City, Louisiana. If we have enough time at the end of the trip, before I have to go back to work, we can take DREAM AWAY all the way to Delcambre. If we do not have time, then we can dock in Morgan City, and I can work my hitch while DREAM AWAY is in still Morgan City. Then, when I finish my hitch, we can take DREAM AWAY to on Delcambre.
It is not yet clear how long we will stay in Louisiana, but when that time is up, we hope to get back on track for making our trip to The Bahamas, then Puerto Rico, and finally back to the Rio Dulce of Guatemala, via the Bay Islands of Honduras.
